Barter Town: Spring Cleaning 2015

Updated 6/26 No reasonable offers will be refused.

If I earn another hundred bucks I can get a case of 5.56 which sounds pretty darn good to me.

I teased it before. Folks seemed to think my idea not to include shipping in costs as it would drag up the price of items but instead have a surcharge for smaller purchases. After deliberation I set the amount (under which a $10 surcharge will be added) as $60. The reason for that instead of $50 is that price would let someone buy an item, toss in a $10 pouch and avoid paying the surcharge. In effect I would be giving away the smaller item.

As to procedures either leave a comment or email me at theotherryan@yahoo.com and include Barter Town in the subject line (both is the best approach). Obviously the first person to make a full price offer gets the item. If they want to bargain (which is totally fine) I will do one of four things: A) accept right away B) counter offer, C) tell them I'll see how much interest the item gets and maybe get back to them or D) outright reject their offer.

EDITED TO INCLUDE: Payment can be done through paypal (theotherryan@yahoo.com) or USPS money order.

Anyway here we go.

Knives:
British Sheffiield made OEM Survival Knife. It cost me $85 plus shipping. I received this knife and immediately just didn't like the way it handled. Too heavy for it's length in my opinion. I never used it as I planned to return it. For reasons lost to time the return got messed up and in frusteration I put it on a shelf and a few months went by.

Holsters:
Safariland 6285 1.5in drop holster for a Glock 17 with TLR-1 light. I know they also fit a G19 just fine. Also I believe they fit the G22/23 as holsters are generally compatible between the two.
Decided to keep this.

Bianchi Model 7/7L pancake holster for a full sized 1911.Slightly used in excellent condition Asking $35.

Quality leather OWB holster for a Glock 26 though it will fit a G19 just fine. Got it in a complicated trade and don't need it. Manufacturer is unknown but it is a nice well made holster. Used in excellent condition. Asking $40.
Cross breed style holster (manufacturer unknown) for a Glock 9mm. Used in VG/G condition. Asking $30.
Sold

Bianchi (I'm pretty sure) leather IWB holster for a Walther PP/PPK. Would presumably fit similar sized guns like a Bersa .380 but again do your own research and take your own chances. It was barely used as I owned the PP for about a week but probably sat on the shelf at the gun shop for a minute so the leather is pretty stuff. A rub of saddle soap or leather conditioner should fix that minor problem. Asking $15.

Other Stuff:

Springfield leather (National Match?) sling. In very good condition. I purchased it because the Garand needed a sling. Took it off when I sold the rifle and do not have a use for it. Asking $25.

Side saddle for a Mossberg 500. Can't remember who made it and the bolts to mount it were lost who knows when. Asking $10.

Leather sling. Asking $20.

PUR hiker water filter. Asking $40. They don't make these anymore but they take Katadyn replacement filters.

My goal is to make enough cash to fund some projects. Honestly as such my primary goal is to turn this stuff into cash. Inevitably the topic of trades will come up. First of all valuing trades is hard, everyone wants to value their stuff close to new and the other guys at half the value. I tend to look at both sides stuff based on % of new price and factor in condition. If you have something else to trade I might be interested in I guess let me know. Worst case I will say no thanks.

Well that is what I have up for sale now. Please let me know if you have any questions. Barter Town is now officially open.

Edited to include:  I am going to start selling this stuff in other places so if you had an eye on something it would be smart to move sooner instead of later.

As to trades if I can use something I'll probably take it. Make me an offer.

What Did You Do To Prepare This Week?

-Did my dry fire 3x like a good boy should.

-Picked up a box of Remington 150 grain SP ammo.

-Repacked my work ruck. Once we finally ditch the ACU pattern I intend to unify those two systems (work ruck and BOB) into one. It will let me keep things simple and avoid a lot of duplication.

-We are working at rotating the food in the freezer.

-Bought some gold and silver from Montana Rarities the Metals Pimp.

Next week I plan to
-Dry fire
-Hit the range
-Put seedlings into pots
-Start a new batch of seedlings
-Sharpen the chainsaw
-Tidy up the garage
-List some more stuff for sale. Speaking of which I still have things from the last batch.

Trades in Barter Town

I was asked about potential trades. This is a tough one as it is difficult to say everything I might be potentially willing to trade for without fully developing the situation. If you are interested in an item I think is going to be harder to sell or the trade is going to lean pretty hard in my favor; I am inclined to be more accepting of generally useful items I might not exactly be looking for.

As of right now I would be very interested in trading for a rail mounted AR-15 type folding sight made of metal from a decent manufacturer. Extra special bonus points if it is a MaTech Milspec BUIS but I'm pretty open to any decent option. Also if you have a used Aimpoint or Eotech I am interested.

edited to include: I am also looking for a Glock 22 9mm conversion barrel such as this lone wolf model.

I can also definitely use some carbine length AR handguards (mil spec type or similar with metal heat shield) and would like one of those Tapco AK hand grips.

I can also use a couple of those MOLLE FLC mesh vest things to make ancillary rigs of spare pouches. Also a good holster for a 4"k frame with a heavy barrel would be nice as would a streamlight or surefire flashlight (1" tube type) to mount on a weapon.

Those are specific things I can really use. Beyond that all manner of mags (AK, AR, Ruger 10/22, HK G3, Browning Buckmark, Glock 9/.40), spare parts, commo equipment and of course precious metals.

I can also use a small full tang knife like an Isulla II.

I am not saying this list is by any means inclusive, it would take days to come up with every possible thing I might potentially trade for. You might have something I haven't thought to mention or maybe even a cool thing I haven't heard of. So If you have something that seems generally useful for preparedness and want to trade it for something I have just let me know. Worst case I will say no thanks.

I hope this explains where I am at with trades for barter town.

Honestly I think most of this stuff is priced reasonably and am not what you would call a motivated seller (trying to pay the overdue rent, etc).  I would rather move the lot over a month or two and get 10-20% more than do it right away for less. Most likely I will tell folks who want to pay less than asking I'll get back to them and see if a better offer comes in.

Cold Steel Safe Maker II push knife. Carried a couple times and maybe used to cut a box here or there. After realizing I wasn't going to carry the thing it went into my box of knives.

Sold

Tactical Tailor drop holster for a Beretta M9/92FS. This holster has been used (I carried it in Iraq) so it will have a frayed thread here and a scrape there, hence the price, but it is totally servicable. It may (do your own research and take your own chances) fit other comparably sized pistols like a Browning High Power or CZ-75.

Other Stuff:
HSGI double taco's, multicam in very excellent condition. I did replace the MALICE type clip on one (as it got scavenged for something else when in my gear bin) from something else but I doubt you would notice and the other clip is just fine. I have two of these for sale and am asking $35 a piece.
Sold
Tactical Tailor PRC-152 pouch in like new condition. I never even put it on a kit, let alone used it. Asking $25 since it cost me $40 something and is unused.

First of all valuing trades is hard, everyone wants to value their stuff close to new and the other guys at half the value. I tend to look at both sides stuff based on % of new price and factor in condition. Being honest I'm not looking to trade so am interested in good deals on very specific items or smoking deals on fairly specific items.

Things that definitely interest me are:
-An optic either Aimpoint Micro or Eotech. I could potentially add cash to the deal.
-An AR-15 BUIS rear sight. Not especially picky but want a metal one from a decent manufacturer.
-A Safariland 6004 drop holster for a Glock 17/TLR 1
-An Esse Izulla II

Things that might interest me depending on the deal AKA for a darn good deal:
-A good OWB holster for a 4" K frame .357 revolver
-A nice pair of aesthetically pleasing grips for a K frame revolver
-A pair of radios either Cobra/ Motorolla type family radios or hand held CB's.
-A slaved vis/ IR laser like a crimson trace
-MILSURP HK G3 mags
-An Eberlestock backpack that can hold a rifle
-Precious metals
-AR/ Glock/ AK mags
-AR/ Glock/ AK/G3 parts

If you have something else to trade I might be interested in I guess let me know. Worst case I will say no thanks.

Well that is what I have up for sale now. Please let me know if you have any questions. Barter Town is now officially open.

Edited to include: This post is going to be bumped to the top pretty consistently until the spring cleaning is over and Barter Town is closed.

Barter Town: Pre Listing Discussion

Hey folks, I was inspired by Alexander Wolfe of T Blog's recent sale of a bunch of stuff to turn it into something good and am looking to do a bit of garage clearing out. I'm looking to sell a bunch of stuff and plan to offer it to you all before doing a broader listings.

For sale will be a knife, a couple water filters, some holsters, pouches, slings and random stuff.

My goal is to make enough money to buy an optic for an undisclosed project. I would like to make enough cash to buy an Aimpoint micro or at least get most of the way there and save the rest.

Anyway I want to run something by you all before I take pics and list stuff here for you all.

A lot of the stuff I have to sell are fairly low priced items.  If for example I sold a pouch (which cost me $20-25) for $10 and paid $5 to ship it to you that would not be cost effective. At the same time if I build in the cost of shipping to every item prices will be pretty inflated. Even though you would pay that added cost for a new item anyway the sticker shock is a problem.

Here is my tentative plan. List stuff at reasonable prices (50-85% of new price depending on condition and such)  that are fair for both parties. For purchases less than $50 a $10 charge will be added for shipping so I do not lose my shirt to shipping on small sales. For purchases over $50 I will foot the bill for shipping.

As the perspective purchasers how does that sound to you?
